Overview
The Genaray SSL-50B is a 50-inch bi-color strip LED that provides even illumination along its entire length and a soft, flattering wrap-around light. In the studio, its unique form factor is perfect for lighting full-length portraits, headshots, and product photography. It also excels as a background and accent light for group shots. Thanks to the positioning flexibility of its included lollipop mount, the SSL-50B is an excellent choice for shooting physical forms and product shots in vertical and horizontal orientation. In addition, the integrated full-length barndoors can cut the beam to a very narrow strip, which gives precise control over the light and shadow cast on subjects or backgrounds. The bright 400-bulb LED array has an integrated diffuser for a soft wraparound beam that eliminates multiple shadows. The SSL-50B runs on AC or V-mount battery power. The fixture boasts a temperature range of 3000 to 5600 K and a TLCI of 98 for superb color rendition. Its power output is digitally controlled by a dimmer that ranges from 1% to 100% brightness for a full 6-stop range. The fixture runs on AC or battery power, and it’s passively cooled so there’s no fan noise that can disrupt a video shoot.

Even Illumination
The SSL-50B provides even illumination along its 50-inch length, without noticeable hot spots. When shooting full-length portraits or group shots, this fixture bathes your subjects in soft and diffuse wraparound light without multiple shadows.
Bi-color Light
The SSL-50B boasts a 3000 to 5600 K color temperature range. You’ll be able to match ambient light whether it’s the warmth of a tungsten bulb or cool, bright daylight. The color temperature adjusts in 50 K increments, which is an advantage when you need to exactly match other lights in your setup.
Barndoors
For greater light-shaping management, the full-length barndoors minimize light spill and make it possible to cut the beam to a narrow strip. This feature delivers precise control over the light and shadow cast on subjects or backgrounds.
Lollipop Mount
The sturdy lollipop mount makes the SSL-50B ideal for shooting physical forms and products in vertical and horizontal orientation. It furnishes a ball-head attachment that makes it possible to aim the SSL-50B in practically any orientation, so you can fine-tune the shadows it casts on your subjects. The ratchet locking handle assures a secure hold.
Horizontal or Vertical Orientation
In horizontal orientation, you can create a wide wraparound light that’s perfect for fashion and portrait photography. In vertical orientation, the strip can create dramatic and cinematic shadowing for photographs and video.
Stepless Dimming
The dimming buttons adjust the brightness from 1% to 100% in one-degree increments for a full 6-stop range. It lets you dial in the precise brightness you need for a perfect exposure.
Battery or Plug-In Power
The light operates on either V-mount battery or plug-in power, so you’ll never be left without a way to light your subjects. If you’re not able to plug in, or worried about people walking or tripping over your power cables in a crowded room, you can switch to battery power in seconds.
Quiet Operation
The SSL-50B operates quietly without a fan. That’s good news if you’re lighting a video shoot and want to record live sound or dialog. The heat sink effectively dissipates heat and makes it possible to operate the fixture for long periods without overheating.
Multivoltage
The SSL-50B can run on North American and international voltages. Take it with you, even if you’re leaving the country to shoot abroad. Just remember to bring the right plug adapters (sold separately).
Wireless Control
The SSL-50B’s control box has an integrated transmitter/receiver for wireless control over the light for a sophisticated setup with multiple SSL-Series lights. Adjust the light’s settings wirelessly with the SSL-RC remote control (available separately) from up to 100 feet away. Set all the SSL-Series lights to the same channel, and you can control all lights from the remote or directly from any of the lights’ control boxes.
